Being a Special Care Counselor is a job of helping and supporting people who have difficulties or limitations, allowing them to feel better or to receive help from someone with experience. It’s a job where you learn a lot about the world and the different perspectives of others.
What do special care counselors do?
A special care counselor observe and evaluate the needs and the skills or the behaviors demonstrated by the person they observe. Also, they develop and establish an intervention plan according to the needs of the person or a group. A special care counselor collected data and keep the person’s file up to date by writing progress notes.
What do special care counselors do on a typical day?
In a day of special care counselor they are doing evolution notes and intervention plan. They are doing group session or solo session with the people they help. They also meet psychologist or the technical people to advance and help the people correctly.
Where do special care counselors work?
Special care counselor can work in many places it’s depended what do you like. They can work in school in every level, young center, with the old people, etc. Every place has advantages but this is different for everyone and which group of person they want to help.
How can I become a special care counselor?
You need to complet a tree-years DEC at cégep in Special Care Counselors. After you can continue at the university in like psycho education.

You mustn’t think you’re bad or anything like that if the person decides this. That’s what would cause us danger and lead to depression, because it’s not our decision, and we can’t change it.

I don’t think the job of special care counselor will be replaced by robots because for doing this job you are obligated to have a heart. It’s a job for the human. The robots gonna not understand the no-verbal of the people and not understand what they lived. This is a robot not someone to know what the human do
What age do special care counselors retire at?
Like many other jobs in Quebec. I’m going to say 60 or 65 years old, depending on ours personal situation at this moment.
Conclusion
I’m currently in my second year of technical studies, soon to be in my third. My goals are to successfully complete my technical degree and to be able to help my little sister through her difficulties. I should finish my studies within a year.
